This week I had the pleasure of getting to use Photoshop, I downloaded the trial from adobe and absolutely loved it. It took some getting use to and there was a bit of a learning curve but I started to get the hang of it fairly quickly… just wondering if I can justify spending that much money on photoshop because I don’t think I can live without it anymore. I had some problems too with my internet which kept dropping out on me. it didn’t stay out long but it was definitely something that got annoying to deal with.
This week we did a lot of work in design, we learned about different aspects about design such as color and balance and were given an opportunity to look out in the world and find things of good (and not so good) design in our Design Safari No I had a little trouble with this, it seemed most of the examples they gave us didn’t work any more… or maybe that was just my bad luck. But I think once I got started and went looking it was actually pretty easy to spot the different design concepts in pretty much everything, though I focused on advertisements for my safari.
We upped the amount of Assignment from the repository to 15 (as opposed to the 10 we did last week) I really enjoy this system where we can choose our own projects we want to do as opposed to being forced to do certain ones. This week started off really bad for these assignment though because I couldn’t do what I wanted to with the software I had, Picasa, so I splurged and got the Adobe trial (HEAVEN!) I fell like just having adobe photoshop really made the assignment much more enjoyable, create a better image and much more creative. I did the following assignments
Truthful Movie Poster – 3 stars
Computer Books for Kids -3 stars
Propaganda Poster – 3 Stars
Movie Trading Cards – 4 Stars
and the one we all had to do
ds106 Radio – 2 stars
These were much easier and a less daunting task to do once I had Photoshop.
And last up on our weekly due do list was our daily creates as always these I did early in the week before I actually got my hands on photoshop though they don’t normally demand too much high skilled applications so Picasa worked well for these.
